Abstracts

Keydates to remember:

• Abstract submission opens: January 11, 2024
• Abstract submission closes:  March 4, 2024 (midnight, C.E.T.) 
• Abstract notification of acceptance: mid March, 2024

The Program Committee for the 16th OESO World Conference is inviting the submission of scientific abstracts. 

Six abstracts will be selected among those submitted! The authors will be honored at the gala evening, during which they will receive a diploma. 

We seek novel paper submissions to be presented as oral, poster or video  with topics broadly including, but not limited to the following categories:

Abstract presentation format

Author are invited to submit an abstract for:

1. Oral communication
2. Poster presentation
3. Video presentation (see special submission instructions below)

If the abstract is accepted, the Scientific Committee will decide on the final presentation format. 

Submission Guidelines

General

• There is no fee for submitting an abstract 
• Start your abstract submission by creating an account for the OESO 2024. Please note that the abstract submission system account is different from your OESO membership account.
• Abstracts should be submitted exclusively online on the conference platform. Abstracts sent be email will not be considered
• Abstracts will be accepted in English only
• An international panel of reviewers will review all abstracts anonymously
• There is no limit to the number of abstracts you may submit (however an individual may not be offered more than 2 oral presentations)
• OESO 2024 conference also accepts short videos (maximum 5 minutes) to be reviewed for video presentation at the congress. Please see below SPECIAL submission guidelines for videos
• Authors whose presentation is accepted agree to register for the Conference and to come to Strasbourg to present their work. Videoconferences or pre-recorded presentations will not be accepted. 
• Authors whose oral communication is accepted undertake to present in English.

Abstract Text

• Author and institution information must NOT be included in the body of the abstract. The inclusion of either of these will result in rejection of the abstract.
• Abstracts may be entered directly into the site or copied and pasted.
• Research work should be original and innovative. Work can have been presented prior to OESO 2024 but MUST include new information/data.
• Abstracts must not exceed 3000 characters, spaces included (title and authors not included in this count) – See detailed hereafter. 
• A maximum of 1 table may be included  (image upload)
• A maximum of 1 image may be included (image upload)
• Tables, images and graphs must be uploaded in JPG or TIFF format at 300 dpi and 100% size. Any higher resolution is acceptable.

Abstracts submitted for oral or poster presentation must be structured as follows:

• Background (max 300 characters, spaces included)
• Material & Methods (max 1600 characters, spaces included)
• Results (max 800 characters, spaces included)
• Conclusion (max 800 characters, spaces included)

Special submission guidelines for video presentation abstract

Abstracts submitted for Video presentation must be structured as follows:

• Abstracts for video submission cannot be submitted through the online platform 
  please download the video abstract submission form and follow special instructions.
• Video duration: maximum 5 minutes
• File type: (avi, mpg, mpeg, mov, wmv – max. 250 MB)
• Description of the video: what is shown in the video; why this video is unique or important for the conference
